Harry Styles may have had a taste of living the high life flying around in girlfriend Taylor Swift’s private jet, but now his 1D bandmates are getting in on the action and getting their own plane.
Following old-skool music heavyweights the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin down the runway, the fivesome will fly all over the globe in their own chartered aircraft – dubbed Air Force One Direction – for their 2013 world tour.
Use of the luxury Jumbo, which is thought to have cost promoters around £3million, means the lads will be able to avoid long check-in queues at airports and instead be driven straight to their awaiting plane.
The heartthrobs will also be able to bypass hordes of their fans who dutifully descend whenever they travel, often clogging up the journey.
Should Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn or Louis forget their passport or oversleep after a late night of partying they won’t be hanging around for the next flight, as their jet will wait for them. Bingo.
If anyone is in any doubt about who’s travelling in such opulence, the band’s 1D branding will be emblazoned on the plane’s tail for the duration of the tour.
The only downside is there won’t be room on board for all the boys’ girlfriends – Taylor, Zayn’s other half Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, Louis’ squeeze Eleanor Calder and Liam’s beau Danielle Peazer.
If the ladies do decide to play groupie they’ll have to hop on an EasyJet or Ryanair flight and meet up with their men at the other end.
Doesn’t leave much scope for the boys joining the mile high club. Except for Taylor, of course, who can follow in her Falcon 900 jet.
2013 is set to be a bumper year for the 1D boys – jetsetting all over Europe in the spring including France, Germany and Spain. This is followed by a 29-date tour of North America and then Australia and New Zealand.
Trolley dollies are yet to be hired. Form an orderly queue ladies.
